TASK
Students, I have a question for you! Do you enjoy ghost stories? Creaky old homes with lurking shadows? Betrayal? People coming back from the dead? Tales that leave you with chills and a pervasive eerie feeling? Let me introduce you to one of America's original authors of creepy tales, Edgar Allan Poe. He not only wrote stories about loss and love - he also wrote stories that permeate to the core - disturbing, moving tales that will stick with you.
Through this webquest adventure you will learn all about Poe as a man and an author. You will learn what influenced him, what inspired him, and what plagued him. By the end of this assignment you will have a strong understanding of who he was, his writing style and characters. You will be able to place yourself in his stories and carry on his work as if you had been writing it all along. Which is exactly what you will do. There are tasks to complete along the way, but your big project will be writing in Poe's style and tone. I know that if you give yourself enough time, this is a fun project that you will enjoy and I am sincerely looking forward to your finished works.
This is to be done and completed on your own, but feel free to bounce ideas off of your classmates. Most importantly, if you have questions or concerns do not hesitate to ask.
Have fun!
